Chaparral Antique Cars

As one of the park's oldest and longest-operating rides, the Chaparral Antique Cars has entertained generations of visitors to Six Flags over Texas. Added to the park in 1962 for the park's second operating season, the Chaparral Antique Cars feature gasoline-operated cars driven by guests and guided by a rail should the driver attempt to venture off the "road." Its 1962 opening also makes it the second oldest continuously-operated ride in the park, surpassed only by the Six Flags Railroad.

The cars originally had tops to them until they were removed in the early 1970s, before being re-added again in the 80s and finally removed again.

For the 2011 season the ride's entrance was relocated to the former location of the Coca Cola Cool Zone vending/misting area. It is believed that the new Texas Giant will utilize the Chaparral Antique Cars' former queue line.

The entrance has indeed been relocated to what was previously the "Coca Cola Cool Zone."

I've been driving these almost full scale cars since I was 4 or 5. I used to always think that if I swerved around enough, I could get the car off the track and drive freel, so you were in for quite the ride when you rode with me! This is a good ride when you need a beak and just want to relax. The ride takes you over a bridge and past some great scenery. Chaparral Antique Cars is a classic ride for all ages!

MY RATING: 5 stars
