Silver Star Carousel
The last ride crafted by master carousel creator William Dentzel, the Silver Star Carousel is a classic, hand-carved, wooden carousel. Although added to the park in 1963, the carousel was created much earlier from 1925 to 1926. The attraction opened for operation at Rockaways' Playland Amusement Park in New York in 1928. It remained in operation at the park from 1928-1937 and from 1945-1962 until Six Flags over Texas purchased the ride for $25,000.
When the carousel first opened at Six Flags over Texas, it was named "Boomtown Carousel" and located in the Boomtown section of the park (where Gunslinger is currently located). The ride closed at the end of the 1985 season for renovations and reopened three years later in its current location in the Star Mall (entrance plaza) with a new name — Silver Star Carousel.
The Silver Star Carousel has since become a park icon, being the first and last attraction seen by every park guest due to its location adjacent to the front gate.
The ride was declared a historical site by the Texas Historical Commission in 1966.

A SFOT classic, this is the first ride you see when you enter the park. A fun ride, but it's always empty queue leads me to believe it may be taken out within the next few years. Enjoy it while you can!
